Michael R. Eades, M.D.
Michael R. Eades, M.D., and his wife, Mary Dan Eades, M.D., are best recognized for their ground breaking book, "Protein Power." They are recognized around the world for their pioneering efforts in the field of metabolic medicine. Together they've helped literally millions of individuals lose weight and improve their health.
In their books, personal appearances on network and cable television, the Eades are known for their common sense approach to health, nutrition, weight loss and exercise. They make complex medical and biological topics easy to understand. The Eades have focused their full-time energies on writing, research, lecturing and creating products aimed at helping the public to improve its metabolic health. Since Protein Power, the couple has published four other successful books, including the Protein Power Lifeplan and The 30-Day Low-Carb Diet Solution.
Michael attended California State Polytechnic University where he earned his engineering degree and

Mary Dan Eades, M.D.
Mary Dan Eades, M.D., along with husband Michael is best known for the best selling book, "Protein Power." The true secret of their success is the enormous amount of time both she and her husband invest
contributing to and reviewing the scientific literature and in consultation with
other leading medical professionals. Mary Dan Eades is a skilled chef, a skier, and an antiquities collector,
and both doctors share a love of literature, film and the arts and are entrepreneurs.
She attended the University of Arkansas for her undergraduate degree in biology and chemistry
and for her medical degree.

Jonny Bowden, M.A., C.N.S.
Jonny Bowden, M.A., C.N.S., is a respected expert in the fields of fitness and
nutrition. He is the author of "Jonny Bowden's Shape Up!", "Jonny Bowden's Shape
Up Workbook!", and most recently, "Living the Low Carb Life: From Atkins to the
Zone Choosing the Diet That's Right for You". His work has also appeared in The

He frequently appears on television and radio as a fitness expert and is also a

Fred Pescatore, M.D.
Fred Pescatore, MD, is a traditionally trained physician practicing
nutritional medicine. He was the Associate Medical Director at the
famed Atkins Center for five years. To pursue his vision of a more
personalized and healthful program Dr. Fred opened Partners in Integrative
Medicine and wrote three important books, Feed Your Kids Well, Thin for
Good and The Allergy and Asthma Cure.
His new book, The Hampton's Diet,
takes his low-carb concepts, blends them with the healthful
features of the Mediterranean diet to create an enriching lifestyle for long
term wellness and weight management. He focuses on the use of foods of

Joy Pape, RN BSN CDE WOCN
Joy Pape is a board certified diabetes nurse educator. She became a registered nurse due to
the high incidence of heart disease in her family. Joy's own doctors encouraged her to look
more into lower carbohydrate lifestyle programs for herself and her patients.
Joy is now in private practice, president of EnJoy Life! Health Consulting, LLC, providing health
education to individuals and groups on a local and national level. She is a columnist for Diabetes
Interview and is on the Editorial Board for H. Crimson Publishing, Publishers
of Walgreen's "Diabetes & You."
In 2001, Joy teamed up with her lifelong friend, professional comedian Phyllis Shulman to form
a health education/comedy team called Laugh
It Off! LLC. They travel the
country teaching people how to laugh off their weight and laugh off their numbers.
Joy lives and travels with her husband Brian who is an architect in Columbia, Missouri.
Together they hope to help build communities for healthier lifestyles.

Richard Feinman, Ph.D.
Richard Feinman, Ph.D., is Professor of Biochemistry at the State University
of New York Downstate Medical Center. His career includes research in
proteases and their inhibitors and the study of stimulus-response coupling
in blood platelets. His current interest in nutrition and metabolism
derives from his many years of teaching these subjects in the College of
Medicine at SUNY. Dr. Feinman and coworker Dr. Eugene J. Fine are currently
developing models of thermodynamics as applied to weight loss diets and are
generally interested in teaching the metabolic aspects of such diets.
Dr. Feinman is Co-editor-in-chief of Nutrition & Metabolism an open access
journal produced by BioMed Central and an
organizer of the Kingsbrook Conference on Nutritional and Metabolic Aspects
of Low Carbohydrate Diets.

Gil Wilshire, M.D., FACOG
Dr. Wilshire is a Reproductive Endocrinologist with expertise in diabetes
and metabolism. He has first-authored scientific research in such journals
as Clinical Endocrinology and Metabolism and Fertility and Sterility.
He earned his bachelor's degree in chemistry from the University of Michigan
and is M.D. from the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. He did his
sub-specialty Fellowship in Reproductive Endocrinology at UMDNJ-New Jersey
Medical School. He serves as the Medical Director of Technology
Catalysts International Corporation. Gil is also President and Chief Scientific Officer of the
Carbohydrate
Awareness Council.
Dr. Wilshire is passionate about controlled-carb nutrition from both a
medical standpoint and personal experience. Since April 2002 he's followed
a diet low in carbohydrate and to date lost 105 pounds of fat while
increasing lean body mass through weight-training.

Steven R. Gundry, M.D., FACS, FACC
Steven is Director of The Center for Restorative Medicine, at The International Heart and
Lung Institute for Advanced Cardiac Surgery in Palm Springs, California,
as well as being Clinical Professor of Surgery and Pediatrics at Loma Linda University School of Medicine. He was
named "America's Top Doctor" by Castle-Connolly Publications, for three three years running.
Steven specializes in "Advanced and High Risk" heart surgery, cardiovascular disease detection and prevention, and
"heart healthy" lifestyle modification. He starts his cardiac patients on high protein, low refined carbohydrate
diets. Using his own advice, he's lost 50 lbs in the last year!

Keith Berkowitz, M.D.
Keith Berkowitz, M.D., combines expertise in both traditional and complementary
medicine as Founder and Medical Director of the Center for Balanced Health, New
York, NY. He began his practice using low carbohydrate nutrition and complementary
therapy as an associate of Dr. Robert C. Atkins in 1999. He later joined The Atkins
Center for Complementary Medicine and served as Medical Director and Business Director.
Prior to joining The Atkins Center, Dr. Berkowitz spent five years as a faculty member
in the Department of Medicine at North Shore University Hospital, Manhasset, New York
in addition to supervising and teaching medical students as a clinical instructor at
New York University School of Medicine, New York, NY.
Board certified by the American Board of Internal Medicine, Dr. Berkowitz reviewed
questions for the American Board of Internal Medicine. He is also a diplomat of the
National Board of Medical Examiners and a member of the American College of Physicians,

Dan Maiullo
Mr. Maiullo earned his Bachelor's degree at Rutgers College, New Brunswick, New Jersey, and
his law degree at Rutgers Law School, Newark, New Jersey. A licensed attorney, Mr. Maiullo
passed the bar exams of New York, New Jersey and Illinois. After operating his own law
practice for two years, he joined Life Services Supplements, Inc. (which later became Keto Foods) in 1988,
shortly after it had been formed.
Over the years he has been
responsible for all areas of operations including inventory control, purchasing, manufacturing,
shipping, product development, accounts payable, product costing, computer operations, list
management and mailing programs, as well as legal, trademark, and regulatory affairs. After
introduction of the Life Services' first low carbohydrate products in 1998, management
recognized the huge potential in low carbohydrate products. Eventually, the demand for
Keto brand low carbohydrate products eclipsed the supplement business, which was discontinued.
Dan is now pursuing other ventures.

Andrew S. DiMino
Andrew DiMino, a former Internet Strategist and Branding consultant for Gateway and other companies, became the creator and
owner of low carb pioneer, CarbSmart in May of 1999. The site grew from 150 products to currently 1,300+ items in
many categories. CarbSmart now showcases over 300 articles including over 120 success stories, and in 2003, Andrew opened
his CarbSmart retail store in Huntington Beach, California.
CarbSmart has become one of the most recognized low carb brands in America. Besides carbsmart.com and his retail store,
Andrew licensed the CarbSmart trademark to Unilever for Breyers and Klondike low carb ice cream products, Monterey Pasta
for CarbSmart Refrigerated Pastas and Bayer Drugs for CarbSmart One-a-Day Vitamins. Andrew continues to grow CarbSmart and
to serve the low carb community.

Pete Maletto
Pete Maletto, Chief Science Officer for DynaPure Nutrition, is the former food product development director
and creator of a well known low carb specialty food company. He began low carbing in 1983, and continues
his march as a low carb advocate today.
Pete received his bachelor's degree in Biology from the University of Scranton and continued his
ongoing education to become a Nutritional Consultant in Alternative Medicine. Pete has 5 years of
clinical experience as a nutritionist and supervised an Alternative Medicine clinic in New Jersey
along with a Medical Doctor. He thereafter introduced and pioneered many of the first low carb food
alternatives. Over a period of six years, Pete was the first to develop low carb pasta, breads,
specific bake mixes, potato alternatives, and extruded cereals. He was responsible for all areas of
product development and completed over 200 formulations for the company.

Elaine Payne
Elaine Payne is President of Low Carb Connoisseur and co-founder of
one of the first Internet low carb specialty stores, low-carb.com.
In 1997, Elaine and her sister Lynn Whitfield turned their personal success
with Low Carb dieting and enthusiasm for the Low Carb way of life into a successful
business venture.
In 1999 in Anderson, SC, Elaine & Lynn opened the country's first full
service Brick & Mortar retail store featuring a low carb cafe, diet support
and seminars. In 2001 they opened their 2nd retail location
